Coaching

Looking for guidance in your spiritual growth?

How does it work?

  • As described in the journal intro, the coaching relationship is extremely helpful for your spiritual growth. Coaching sessions are 50 minutes in length, one-on-one, and most typically done on Zoom.

  • We guarantee your satisfaction with the coaching. If you put in the time, effort, and prayer, we firmly believe that you will experience greater intimacy with God. If at the end of the experience you are unhappy with the coaching, we will be happy to either refund you or give you 2 additional sessions with a different coach.

  • Note the biographical information and pictures of our coaches (listed below). We can pair you up with a coach based on your schedule and our prayer, or, you can also request a specific coach if you desire.

Cost: We do not want the cost to stop you. Yet, coaching is a valuable service and when we “put some skin in the game" we are more likely to follow through with the changes we desire to make. The recommended minimum donation is $250. The actual cost per man is approximately $325. Why the disparity between the donation and cost numbers? We ask that you pray and discern what donation you are called to give. Every man and his family’s financial position is different. Please take this to prayer and discernment, and (when applicable) to your wife for discussion and prayer. Those giving more than $325 will be given a tax receipt noting the charitable contribution.

Recent jobs/work you have had:
I currently work as the Ministry Lead for College Campus and Young Adult Ministry in the Office of Evangelization and Discipleship for the Archdiocese of Atlanta. I have been in this position for a little over five years. Before that, I worked as a Product Manager for Ascension, a Catholic media company. And before that I was a Youth Minister in the Atlanta Archdiocese.

Summary of your family dynamics:
I have been married to my beautiful wife, Meghan, for twenty years. We have two amazing boys: Noah, who is nineteen years old, and Blaise, who is eight years old. I also have a wonderful daughter, Miranda, from a previous marriage. She is married and lives in Chicago.

Hobbies:
A few years ago I turned my hobby into a side hustle as a USCCA handgun instructor. And recently dipped my toe into the world of competitive shooting. Outside of that, I enjoy spending time with my family, especially outside.

Why are you a coach with Son Brother Soldier?
Discovering my true identity as a son of God radically changed my life. Having men around me who understand that reality and continue to help me lean into that has been the "secret sauce" in my spiritual journey. I'm honored to assist in any way to help other men live out their identity as a Son, Brother, and Soldier. When men begin to rise up against, as JPII put it, the culture of death, there is potential for the world to change.

Recent jobs/work you have had:

I am currently a missionary with Ablaze Ministries and have spent my entire career in some field of ministry. I served as a national advisor and coach for a Christian Fraternity, I served four years at a parish in East Texas, filling various roles, and I have been a missionary with Ablaze for seven years. In my current role, I provide youth ministry coaching for our partner parishes and run the coaching and formation for our missionaries on staff. The short way to say what I do is that I minister to the ministers. I also do coaching professionally on the side for both ministry and non ministry professionals. I spent the last 15 months receiving my professional certification from Metanoia Catholic.  My favorite hobby/side hustle is that I do magic/illusions from time to time.

Summary of your family dynamics:

I am married to my beautiful wife Carolyn, and we have one son, Caleb, who is 18 months old. We live in College Station, Texas, and enjoy it here. She is an executive assistant for a Pastor in our diocese, which lets her keep serving the Church from behind the scenes while I am still feeling called to minister to those in the trenches. My parents divorced when I was young so I have been involved with ministries that help children of divorce heal from their childhood experiences. I want to set a different direction for my family than the one that was set for me, and show others how to do the same.

Hobbies:

I am definitely way too into pickleball and college football. I also love going on outdoor adventures with my wife and son. I love learning and reading; I just finished my Master’s in Theology from the Augustine Institute. Cigars, whiskey, and firepits are my preferred mode of conversation, and if it were possible, that is how I would conduct all of my coaching sessions.

Why are you a coach with Son Brother Soldier?

I am a coach because I have needed it at so many points in my life. No one can walk this journey of masculinity alone, nor are we meant to. There are times when you need more intentional focused accompaniment on your journey, I know my life is different because of the men that God brought into my life to coach me in the moments I needed it most. I also see the inverse of seasons of my life where I did not have much coaching and guidance. The difference is clear, and I want to be the coach for others that I have so often needed in my walk as a man of God.

My 20-year career in writing and editing has taken me from newspaper journalism to website content management. I now work with my brother at Brinks Web Solutions in Sioux Falls, crafting helpful content for small businesses across the region.

Summary of your family dynamics:

My wife, Jody, and I have been married for 22 years and have four children (3 girls and a boy) ages 18 to 11. We enjoy a small-town quality of life in Jackson, MN.

Hobbies:

Beyond enjoying family time and my kids' activities, I like to go on walks and I'm often drawn to the study of economic cycles and biblical prophecy.

Why are you a coach with Son Brother Soldier?

God created me as a peacemaker, and through many life experiences and lessons, He has reshaped my perspective of who He is and what He's doing in the world. I believe strongly in pursuing truth and serving as a minister of reconciliation, helping others see what God is up to in their own wilderness journey so that we can join Him.

Why are you a coach with Son Brother Soldier?

After an enriching career in education, I transitioned into retirement in July 2024 at the age of 65. At 60, prompted by the challenges of the pandemic, I realized that my efforts to lead a purposeful life were falling short. I was determined to flourish and understood that this required a transformation in my approach.

Recent jobs/work you have had:

Since graduating from Texas A&M in 2003, I’ve been a whitewater rafting guide, dude rancher, camp counselor and youth minister.  I spent 7 years as a diocesan youth director training the youth ministers throughout the Diocese of Tyler, Tx.  The last 7 years, I served as the director of Campus Ministry at St. Mary’s at Texas A&M.

Summary of your family dynamics:

I’ve been married for 16 years.  We have 3 kids: Owen (13) Barrett (10) Reagan (7).  We live on a ranch with cows and chickens, and love to play baseball, cross country and other school stuff.  We enjoy taking trips to the mountains and trying out new restaurants.

Hobbies:

Hunting, fishing, mountain climbing, camping, grilling and smoking meat, building things, animal husbandry and growing things in the garden.  We also watch a lot of college sports.

Why are you a coach with Son Brother Soldier?

Most men I’ve known, have only experienced surface level friendship because depth feels unfamiliar and uncomfortable.  I’m offering to coach, and to pour into men who are ready to go deeper within and who want to take real steps in their journey.

I currently serve as a consultant for a fundraising professional development firm, focusing on higher education, non-profit and healthcare institutions.  I have been doing this for about two years.  Prior to this position, the bulk of my career was spent in serving in leadership positions in Athletics and Advancement/Fundraising at several colleges, most recently Villanova University (and my alma mater).

Hobbies:

I have a huge passion for fishing (freshwater) and am on the water in my kayak as much as possible.  I am a huge sports fan, and have spent a lot of time in the past few years being my twin daughters' biggest fan (with my wife), going to their college basketball games.  Also, I love to read and faith-focused,history, historical fiction and spy/thriller books are favorites.

Why are you a coach with Son Brother Soldier?

Participation in men's ministry is critically needed right now in our culture and Son Brother Soldier has an amazing vision and impact. There are just so many challenges to navigate and we don't always have other men to talk to and share our issues and hopes with, with our faith as the most important element. I have great passion in this area and in coaching in general.  The potential for introspection, sharing and self-discovery is incredibly powerful in a coaching relationship, especially with Christ at the center.

Summary of your family dynamics:

I am very grateful to have been married to Tracy for 20 years, through thick and thin, and we share three children together, ranging in age from 14 to 9. Having moved around the midwest, we are now "back home" in Minnesota.

Hobbies:

I love the outdoors and being active with my wife and children. Mountain biking is a new found family activity. I also really enjoy worshiping the Lord in music, including leading times of prayer at our church.

Why are you a coach with Son Brother Soldier?

God really led me through a tremendous healing journey, not only throughout my life, but most especially within the past couple years. The coaching and spiritual direction I've received from trusted men for the past 15 years has been tremendously impactful on my relationship with God, my trust of the Lord, and in learning how to hear Jesus' voice. I truly enjoy coaching men on their own journeys of discovering God's voice, growing in various aspects of their life, and moving more deeply into their God given purpose.
